Women's Bantabaa aspiration is always to tell a story that has never been told and bring a story to public that are always waving the flag of freedom yet standby silently with the concerning situation of the people, their narratives, their perspectives, their understanding of the world around them, without feeling that they are constantly defending their religious and cultural identity.

Community Leaders Welcomed the Campaign against FGM in the Niaminas
The campaign to accelerate the eradication of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) takes root in Niamina East, West and Dankunku Districts in the Central River Region South. Thirty men and women have completed three day training on Advocacy Strategies to Eradicate Female Genital Mutilation held at Kudang. The training was undertaken by GAMCOTRAP in partnership with the UNFPA and Gambia Government 2012 – 2016 country programme.
The training brought together men and women selected by their District Chiefs through their Alkalolu to be trained as Community Based Facilitators to engage in the advocacy to end FGM and other Harmful traditional practices. The training curriculum covered topics on Community work, GAMCOTRAP and its activities, Rights Education; FGM, effects of FGM on women’s health and FGM and religion; Gender Based Violence and Advocacy and Social Mobilization strategies to end FGM.
Journalist harassed by staff of Sierra Leone Water Company
Alie Mozart Sesay, a reporter
with privately-owned Torchlight newspaper, was attacked on June 19,
2013, by a group of workers of the Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO) based
in Makeni, a district in the northern part of Sierra Leone.
The Media Foundation for West
Africa (MFWA)’s monitor reported that Sesay was nearly lynched by the workers
as he entered the offices of SALWACO upon an invitation by the Manager, Alimamy
